What is "good" graphic design?
The answer to this is quite subjective. In short, a design is successful when it appeals to the consumer and makes them react. That response might be a person making a decision to purchase a new product, or something a little harder to evaluate like brand recognition. It may be an emotional response, such as laughter, or even shock. A good design should communite the intended message effectively.
What makes Umlaut Design different from other designers?
I am passionate about design. I notice it everywhere I look, which means I am constantly saving ideas and thoughts for future projects. Even though my work surrounds me with creative aesthetics, a project isn’t my personal outlet to draw and design. It has one main goal: to effectively communite an idea to your target audience.
n I really work with a designer who lives outside of Toronto?
Yes, there are no geographic obstacles to working together, thanks to email and telephone. My clients range across the country- from the Ottawa region out west to BC! All communition requirements n be submitted by email or over the phone. Once we have discussed your needs, the information is used to create your designs. Concepts and revisions are emailed to you for your review. Once your design is completed, final files are uploaded to either you or your printer.
How much do you charge?
I wish there was a straight answer to this, however design services are not so easily quantifiable beuse requirement varies for each project. I?have two types of billing depending on the design job: A) Flat Rate (per-project, pre-determined at the start of the project) or, B) Hourly Rated – billed according to the time spent on the project. In such a se, clients are updated regularly on the time spent to date. Some clients prefer one method over the other. I am?flexible and n discuss working within any budget constraints you may have. It is my policy to be transparent with my clients with all costs both at the start and during the process of a project.
